INTERNATIONAL INVITED DESIGN CONTEST OF BUSINESS CENTRE AT KONSTITUCIJOS PR. 14A, VILNIUS

THE CONCEPTUAL IDEA OF THE PROJECT is to create a connecting element between the existing subtle (small-scale) and large-scale buildings. The stylistically ‘plastic’ building of wooden construction with interspersed yards, which visually divide the building’s facades into smaller volumes, preserve the existing trees as well as the extraordinary image of Šnipiškės and reflects the urban memory – wooden architecture, detached buildings with cozy and green courtyards, and wood fences between the plots.

The project is being developed as a transitional element of an urban hill that resumes the idea of urban green spaces, merging existing and projected green spaces into one whole.

All the existing trees in the design plot are preserved, providing a recommended fixed area of land for their root system. Green courtyards will be used as public arenas/places (an open-air area) for cafes and restaurants.
With this design project we are offering modern, contextually volumetric and architectural expression, forming a transition from the small-scale urban structure along Kalvariju Str. to the centre of modern architectural expression on the right bank of the Neris River. The building is planned to have 8 floors near Konstitucijos Avenue, it is lowered to a five-storey in the depth of the plot. The first floor of the building is dedicated to a public function that complements the newly created public spaces – cafes, shops, conference center, etc.
